Built on the proven performance of the race-oriented MX-9 and the success of the original MX-9 Adventure, the latest version of the MX-9 Adventure Helmet integrates MIPS to take the helmet to another level of rider protection and injury avoidance. The new MX-9 Adventure MIPS Torch still delivers in all the right places, starting with an excellent amount of airflow that comes through the velocity-flow ventilation system to both cool your head and carry out hot, moist air. A polycarbonate shell keep both the price and weight of the helmet down, but that shell also promotes a proper fit because it comes in three different shell sizes. The biggest improvement to the MX-9 is MIPS. The Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a specialized layer inside the helmet that allows a limited amount of slip between your head the helmet’s EPS. This relatively small amount of slip lowers the chances of traumatic brain injury by letting your head better handle impacts that occur at unpredictable angles. To go along with the MX-9’s comfort and protection, it also has versatility in spades. The intermediate oval head shape means it will fit most riders, but the integrated face shield and visor also give you options. Remove the face shield and wear goggles if you’re riding nothing but dirt. Remove the visor for more aerodynamics and the helmet is perfect for road riding. Or you can leave both on and retain full usability because the MX-9 Adventure MIPS Helmet is basically a dirt, street, and adventure helmet all rolled into one. Specs: 3.5 pound weight MIPS Brain Protection System in a helmet integrated, low-friction layer designed to reduce rotational motion transferred to the brain from angled impact to the head. Lightweight Polycarbonate/ABS Shell Construction Integrated/Removable shield with NutraFog II™ anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protection Velocity Flow Ventilation™ system for maximum cooling Two point adjustable Visor™ with air intake vents Removable/washable anti-bacterial interior Padded chin strap with D-ring closure Industry-leading five-year warranty DOT and ECE approved 3 shell sizes -SM: XS and SM Helmets -MD: MD and LG Helmets -LG: XL and 2XL Helmets MIPS MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a specialized helmet safety technology that is now being used in the top tier of off road helmets in order to greatly lessen the chances of traumatic brain injury. By integrating an engineered low-friction layer into the liner of the helmet, MIPS enables a relative sliding motion between the head and the helmet so angular and rotational impact forces are absorbed and deflected. Since most head impacts occur at oblique and unpredictable angles, helmets with MIPS Technology are able to offer better protection than helmets without. Sizing For proper fit and size measure the circumference of your head 1" above your eyebrows and around the largest portion of the back of your head. 21 1/4" - 21 5/8"------- X-Small 21 5/8" - 22"---------- Small 22 3/8" - 22 3/4"------- Medium 22 3/4" - 23 1/4"------- Large 23 3/8" - 24"----------- X-Large 24 1/2" - 24 3/8" ------ XX-Large
